Recyko batteries are a type of low self discharge rechargeable NiMH battery manufactured by GP.
What does low self discharge mean?
All rechargeable batteries loose their charge over time. Low self discharge batteries have been specially designed so they loose their charge much slower than ordinary NiMH rechargeable batteries. For example 1 year after charging a normal NiMH battery will only have retained 20% of its charge while a Recyko battery will have retained 85% of its charge.
Why should I use low self discharge batteries?
Low self discharge batteries have many benefits over traditional alkaline single use batteries and standard NiMH rechargeable batteries. The following table clearly shows the benefits of using Recyko low self discharge batteries.
What about price?
Compared to single use Alkaline batteries GP Recyko batteries have the potential to save you a huge amount. Although more expensive to initially purchase they can be recharged hundreds of times easily allowing you to recoup the difference in the initial price.
